The suspects will face murder charges

A man was killed after being stabbed in Barangay Teacher's Village West in Quezon City. The police arrested a minor and another man in connection with the incident.

CCTV footage from the night of November 24 shows two men arguing next to a gas station at the corner of Malingap Street and Kalayaan Avenue. Shortly after, several other men attacked the 29-year-old victim, who was not wearing a shirt.

The victim punched one of the attackers but was later stabbed in the chest and fell onto the road.

Efforts to rush the victim to the hospital were made, but he died shortly after, according to PCapt. Febie Madrid, spokesperson for the Quezon City Police District.

“According to our investigation, the victim, along with his friends, was drinking at his house. Since they ran out of drinks, they went out to buy more. While they were at the store, some individuals approached the victim, leading to an argument that escalated into a stabbing,” Madrid stated.

“The weapon used for the stabbing was a screwdriver,” she added.

A follow-up operation on November 25 led to the arrest of a 15-year-old who is believed to have stabbed the victim. Authorities also apprehended a 19-year-old suspect who was identified as a neighbor of the victim.

They were recognized and located through CCTV footage, Madrid noted.

The father of the 19-year-old suspect is being sought as he is believed to be involved in the crime.

The minor suspect has been taken to the Social Services Development Department of Quezon City, while the 19-year-old suspect is detained at Camp Karingal. The suspect claimed he was selling balut with his father when he was attacked by a group associated with the victim. He insisted that he did not stab the victim; rather, it was done by the minor.“I was surprised when they suddenly attacked me; they were all drunk and I didn’t know what happened. The boy suddenly came down and I was shocked when he stabbed [the victim],” said the suspect.

He further claimed that there had been ongoing disputes with the victim's family after he was mistakenly accused of stealing a bicycle in the area.

“He hurt me, and he also pushed my wife who is seven months pregnant. I tried to understand that situation since I was about to have a child. They suddenly became interested in me because of that bike issue, but I had nothing to do with it,” said the suspect.

ABS-CBN News is still attempting to obtain a statement from the victim's family.
