The Philippine National Police-Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) and TikTok have formed a partnership to address cybercrimes on the platform. A meeting was conducted on Wednesday to explore strategic issues and operational concerns, aiming for effective collaboration against these challenges.
According to PNP-ACG spokesperson Lt. Wallen Arancillo, the collaboration is expected to enhance investigation efforts, as TikTok has been misused by cybercriminals for scams.
Arancillo noted that TikTok had requested this collaboration due to its platform being exploited for online selling scams. A focal person will be appointed to expedite complaint processes regarding scams.
Additionally, TikTok is set to provide training for ACG personnel to improve understanding of the platform's operations and legal requirements. Concerns regarding child exploitation were also addressed during discussions about collaboration with the Women and Children Cybercrime Protection Unit.
