Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin stated that the repatriation of Veloso without delay remains the priority of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. (PBBM).
The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) announced that Veloso would undergo a mandatory 5-day quarantine at the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City.
It was further stated by the BuCor that Veloso would be housed at the CIW’s Reception and Diagnostic Center for a period not exceeding 60 days. This period includes the 5-day quarantine along with a 55-day orientation, diagnostic evaluation, and initial security classification.
Following this process, she will be transferred to the corrections facility assigned to her, based on the resolution approved by the RDC Initial Classification Board.
During the quarantine period, Veloso will be placed in a standard Quarantine Cell for medical observation, where medical and physical examinations will be conducted to assess for any physical or mental illnesses.
The BuCor also indicated that Veloso would be required to provide the names of her relatives or authorized visitors.
It was added that after the quarantine period, which will conclude on December 24, Veloso’s immediate family would be allowed to visit her, allowing for a rare opportunity to reunite in time for Christmas during this transitional phase.
Lastly, the BuCor clarified that Mary Jane Veloso and her alleged illegal recruiter would be held in separate facilities within the CIW.
