Comelec Dismisses Petition to Disqualify Quiboloy's from 2025 Senate Race

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has dismissed a petition that sought to disqualify jailed televangelist Apollo Quiboloy from the 2025 senatorial race. Allegations were made regarding his attempt to run under a party that had disavowed him.
A petition was filed by Sonny Matula, a labor leader, claiming that Quiboloy’s Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA) should be canceled due to "material misrepresentation." However, Comelec stated that the petition lacked merit and contained procedural defects.

It was noted that Quiboloy could still run as an independent candidate, as no evidence was found to support claims of him being a nuisance candidate.
